The Bold Goals Coalition recently recognized Bill Jones, retired Vice Chairman of O’Neal Industries, for his years of service with the Coalition. Bill served in various leadership roles, including Chair of the Education Steering Committee and most recently as Chair of the overall Bold Goals Coalition Steering Committee.
Through the years, Bill advanced the mission of United Way of Central Alabama with his time, service and expertise, spearheading many major accomplishments in the areas of health and education. Under Bill’s leadership, for example:
- Dozens of new childcare centers in our area became First Class Pre-K sites.
- More than 90% of the schools participating in our Attendance Action Network drastically reduced the number of students who are chronically absent.
- The landmark Building (it) Together report was developed, which established strategies for aligning educational systems and employers in order to build a stronger, more ably prepared workforce in Central Alabama.
