Project Issue
90% of students who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) enroll in college the following fall, but Alabama families leave about $57.5 million in Pell Grant aid on the table every year by not completing the FAFSA.
Bold Goal
Achieve a 70% FAFSA completion rate among high school seniors in Central Alabama.
Action
We need more students to have access to education after high school. As our economy revolves more and more around advanced knowledge and technical skills, education after high school will provide the keys to opportunity. Through partnering with Alabama Possible’s Cash for College Campaign, all of the 63 high schools in our region can now access extensive support for students completing financial aid forms.
Impact/Progress
Alabama FAFSA completions increased 4.8 percent in just one year, which was the nation’s fourth-highest increase in FAFSA completions!
