Taking Action to Help Students Hit a Crucial Benchmark

The Bold Goals Coalition is excited to announce the reengagement of our K-3 Literacy Action Network. The network represents a collective effort among community partners to ensure that third-grade reading and literacy rates in Central Alabama are meeting the state’s grade-level requirements prescribed for student success.

Reading proficiently by the end of third grade is a crucial marker in a child’s educational development and is proven to be foundational for future academic success.

The network brings together teachers, families, school districts and out-of-school providers to explore how we might combine ideas, expertise and resources across sectors to ensure that students have the support they need to meet or exceed literacy benchmarks by third grade.

As school districts across Alabama work to ensure that every student can read on grade level by the end of third grade, the K-3 Literacy Action Network aims to support those efforts by bringing various partners together to work collaboratively on building systems that break down barriers to success and provide innovative solutions that help children get the strong start they need to achieve their potential in school and beyond.
